Compared to recent weeks, this seemed like a slow reading week for me. I finished reading Sabrina
on Tuesday and couldn't get my head into anything else. It's not that it was a deep novel or anything, but it put me in the mood for another western romance and I didn't have anything else like that on my bedside table. I have three more romances in the queue for Monday's library pickup, but that didn't help me much last week :-).To jump start my reading, I used logic: which book has to go back to the library next? In this case, that would be The Graveyard Book
by Neil Gaiman. I didn't plan to read that book; it was one of M's requests. I must admit that I was put off by the beginning of the book. Since it is a book for kids, I wasn't expecting it to start with a guy chasing a toddler with a knife. It wasn't graphic and I know that people end up in the graveyard all sorts of ways, but I guess I expected everyone to be dead before the book started. The only other Gaiman book I've read was a picture book about a kid trading his dad for goldfish, so maybe The Graveyard Book is closer to his other work and Gaiman fans won't be surprised by it. I still haven't decided if I am going to keep reading it.

The Graveyard Book is on my TBR pile, too. At first I wasn't too sure about it - it sounded like a rather strange, macabre premise - but some of the reviews convinced me. It will be interesting to see what you think of it!
I've had a slow reading month. I've been reading 'Out Stealing Horses' and even though the story is ok, its a very slow read. I feel like if I don't finish soon, I'm going to scream! Thanks for visiting my blog!
'The Graveyard Book' is the next in my pile as well and I'm also reading it for other people as I'm no great lover of Gaiman. I'll give it a try and then see how I'm doing, but I've put down so many books mid-read recently that I'm loath to pick up one I'm already wary about.
I know what you mean, Table Talk. After I went through several books that I had to drop, I wanted a win. When you are in that frame of mind, there is no reason to start a book that has a strike against it already.
I'm partially reading The Graveyard Book to see what my daughter M has been reading. Once upon a time I used to read all of her books before she did. Now I trust her to pick appropriate material, but every once in a while I think I should spot check what she has read.
I've been wanting to read The Graveyard Book for a while. I read Coraline and really enjoyed it.
